Everyone Plans This Night Forwards. Build It Backwards From 11 PM.
Most hosts plan this night forwards. Dinner at eight because that is when the table was free, drinks after, and the club penciled in for "later" — which turns out to mean one in the morning, by which point two of your four visitors are finished.
Build it backwards instead. Starlets in Woodside, Queens is open daily 11 PM to 4 AM, so the club is the fixed point and the rest of the evening bends around it. Pick your arrival time first. Then work out what happens before it.
Backwards from 11 PM
Decide when your group is walking through the door. Then subtract.
If you want to be inside near the open, dinner has to be earlier than feels natural and the drinks stop before it has to be shorter than anyone plans. If you would rather walk in later, you have room for a long dinner and a proper sit-down first.
Either version works. What does not work is leaving it undecided, because an undecided group defaults to whatever the slowest person wants, and that is almost always one more round where they already are.
Have the ID conversation before they pack
Hosts skip this, and it is the only part that can end a night before it starts. Starlets is 21 and up, and every person shows a valid government-issued photo ID at the door, every time. A reservation does not change it, and nothing you book on their behalf will.
Visitors are the ones most likely to have left something in a hotel safe. If anybody is unsure about what they are carrying, call (646) 301-6606 and ask before they pack. For a guest who has never done any of this, an out-of-town first-timer's version of the night is a better briefing than anything you will type into a chat.

Getting there is your job, not theirs
Your guests do not know the map. Asking them to work it out at midnight is how a group splits into three groups and stops enjoying itself.
Woodside sits close to LaGuardia, and coming in from the airport is handled in getting from the airport into Queens. If you are stringing a whole evening together across the borough, planning an all-Queens night does the routes properly.
Then send one message with the address and the time. Starlets is at 49-09 25th Ave, Woodside, NY 11377. One message. Not five across three apps.
Give the group somewhere to be
A visiting group with nowhere to sit spends its first hour migrating. Somebody is holding four coats, somebody is guarding two stools, and whoever organized the night is doing laps instead of drinking.
Handle it in advance. Reserved seating and table service get arranged before you arrive, which is what Starlets books, and you can reserve a table here. Say what the night is when you book, because a birthday and four friends catching up are two different requests.
There is a full kitchen as well. That matters more than it sounds when half your group flew in today and has not eaten anything that was not sealed in plastic.
Do not oversell it
The quickest way to make a good night land badly is to spend the whole week promising your friends something specific.
Give them the true things instead. Twenty-one and up. Open daily 11 PM to 4 AM. Bring ID. It is out in Woodside, and yes, it is worth the trip. Then stop talking and let the room do the rest.
Let Queens be the point
Your visitors landed with an idea already formed about what a night out in New York looks like, and it usually came from a film.
Woodside is a better answer than the one they packed, and it does not need arguing about. Get them there, put a drink in their hands, and let the evening make the case on its own.
Plan the ending, not just the start
A group that flew in always has a hard stop somewhere. An early flight, a check-out time, one person running on three hours of sleep who has not admitted it yet.
Say the ending out loud at the beginning of the night, so nobody has to be the person who calls it later. Then close out cleanly when you get there — closing time etiquette covers the last hour.
The whole job, if you are hosting
Pick the arrival time. Say the ID line early. Book the seating. Send one message.
That is four decisions, all of which can be made from your couch on a weekday. Make them and your friends get to do the easy part, which is turning up somewhere good with nothing left to figure out.
