Sunday Night Out in NYC: The City Winds Down. Startender Sundays Doesn't.

A Sunday night out in NYC usually means one drink, a walk home, and an early bedtime before the week starts. Startender Sundays at Starlets in Woodside, Queens goes the other way: doors at 11 PM, open until 4 AM, 21 and over. If your weekend isn't over yet, you're welcome to keep it going here.

Who actually goes out on a Sunday night in NYC?

More people than you'd think, and for better reasons than you'd think.

People who worked all weekend. If you spent Friday and Saturday behind a bar, on a hospital floor, or running a dining room, your weekend starts Sunday night. Monday's your day off. Act like it.

People celebrating something. Weddings, christenings, family birthdays. A lot of big days happen on a weekend afternoon and wrap up just as the night gets interesting. In late September, a crew came straight to Starlets after a wedding. Honestly, that's one of the best ways to end a wedding day.

People flying out Monday. If you're in town for the weekend and your flight's out of LaGuardia, you're about 1.8 miles from Terminal B in a straight line. That's a better last night than the hotel bar. We wrote about exactly that in turning a LaGuardia layover into a Starlets night.

People who just want a quieter version of the weekend. Some folks would rather go out when everyone else is home. Totally fair.

What Startender Sundays is

Startender is Starlets' own word for its team. Sunday is the night named after them. If you want the full story on the name and the role, we covered it in what a Startender is, and why Sunday is named after them.

The basics: Startender Sundays starts at 11 PM, the club stays open until 4 AM, and it's at 49-09 25th Ave in Woodside. Entry and ticket details for each Sunday are on the Startender Sundays listing, so check the date you're coming.

If you want to see the room before you commit, the Starlets gallery has a photo recap album from most of our recent nights, and some of them run past 50 photos. Scroll a couple before you decide.

Sunday night vs. the rest of the week

Every night at Starlets runs the same hours, 11 PM to 4 AM, and every one of them has its own name. If you want the whole lineup laid out, Open Late in Queens covers all of them. This post is just about Sunday, because Sunday is the night people forget is an option.

The difference is mostly who's there and why. Friday and Saturday crowds are starting their weekend. Sunday crowds are finishing one, or starting a weekend that happens to fall on Sunday and Monday. That changes the mood in a good way. Nobody's in a rush to get somewhere else afterward, because there's nowhere else to be.

If you've never been out on a Sunday in Queens, try one. Worst case, you're home early with a story about how you went out on a Sunday.

How to do a Sunday night without ruining Monday

A Sunday night out is great until 8 AM Monday. A few things we'd tell a friend:

1. Start on time. Doors are at 11. If you get there at 11, you can have a full night and still leave at 1:30 with no regrets. 2. Pick a leave time and say it out loud. Tell the group. Now it's a plan instead of a vague intention. 3. Book the car home early. The buses near the club finish by about 1:40 AM. Put the full address, 49-09 25th Ave, Woodside, NY 11377, into the app before you need it. The getting to Starlets guide has the rest. 4. Eat something. The club lists a full kitchen, so there's no excuse. 5. If Monday is your day off, ignore rules 1 through 3.

Planning a Sunday after-party

If you've got a wedding, a big family event, or a team celebration wrapping up on a Sunday, a table takes the guesswork out of where everyone goes next. A VIP Reservation is reserved seating with table service for a smaller group.

For something bigger, Starlets offers a Custom Event Buyout, a full or partial buyout of the venue for private parties and after-parties. It's quoted per event. Email management@starletsnyc.com with the date, a rough headcount, and what you're celebrating.
