Halloween Date Night in NYC: Couples Costumes You Can Actually Go Out In
A Halloween date night in NYC works best when you plan it for two people, not for the whole group chat. Pick a couples costume you can sit, walk and dance in, decide whether the parade is part of the night, and have somewhere reserved to land after. At Starlets in Woodside, Queens, a VIP Reservation is reserved seating with table service sized for a date night, and doors open at 11 PM on Halloween like every other night.

Why Halloween makes a good date night
Most date nights have one problem: they look exactly like the last date night. Same dinner, same drinks, same conversation about work.
Halloween breaks that. You're both in costume, everybody around you is in a good mood, and the whole city is a little sillier than usual. It's easy to be playful on a night when a guy dressed as a traffic cone is holding the door for you. And because October 31 is a Saturday this year, nobody has to leave early for work.
Couples costumes that survive a night out
Here's the thing nobody tells you about couples costumes: the one that looks great in the mirror at 8 PM is often miserable by midnight. Before you commit, ask three questions. Can I sit down in it? Can I walk six blocks in these shoes? Can I show my face at a door?
Some ideas that pass all three:
- Classic opposites. Angel and devil, day and night, hero and villain. Easy to read across a room, easy to wear.
- Chucky and Tiffany. Starlets' Halloween night party is called Brides of Chucky, so the movie's killer-doll couple is the obvious pick. Overalls and a striped shirt for one of you, a leather jacket and a ruined veil for the other.
- A famous movie couple. Pick one you both actually love. It always lands better than whatever's trending.
- Matching color, different characters. All black, all red, all white. It looks coordinated without either of you wearing anything bulky.
- "Body & Soul." That's the theme of this year's Village Halloween Parade. One of you dresses as "body," one as "soul," and you get to explain it all night.
- The low-effort pair. Two matching masks over a sharp outfit. Half-masks, not full-face ones.
That last point is worth saying twice. Starlets is 21+, and everyone shows a valid government-issued photo ID at the door. The person checking needs to see the face that matches the photo, so plan on lifting the mask. Starlets hasn't published a costume policy, so if your costume has a prop or something you're not sure about, email management@starletsnyc.com and ask before the night.
A Halloween date night timeline for Saturday, October 31
Here's how we'd plan it for two:
- 6:30 PM: if you want to march in the Village Halloween Parade, lineup is at Canal Street and Sixth Avenue between 6:30 and 9 PM. Costumes required.
- 7:00 PM: the parade steps off and heads up Sixth Avenue to 15th Street. Watching counts too.
- 8:30 PM: dinner. Somewhere small, somewhere you booked. Don't try to walk into a restaurant on Halloween.
- 10:30 PM: car to Woodside.
- 11:00 PM: doors at Starlets for Brides of Chucky.
- 2:00 AM: the clocks fall back to 1:00 AM. Pretend you planned that.
If the parade isn't your thing, skip it, have a long dinner, and come straight to Queens. Not every Halloween date needs a crowd.
Or do your date night earlier in Halloween Week
Halloween doesn't have to be the 31st. Starlets is running a themed party every night of Halloween Week:
- Wednesday, October 28: Sinners. Honestly the best-named date night of the week.
- Thursday, October 29: The Starlets CarnEVIL. Masks and feathers, and an easy costume for two.
- Friday, October 30: The Gothic Purge. All black, a little dramatic.
- Saturday, October 31: Brides of Chucky.
A midweek date during Halloween Week gets you the costumes and the theme without fighting the whole city for a dinner reservation on Saturday.

Getting a table for two at Starlets
A VIP Reservation is reserved seating with table service, and it's the option the club describes as right for a date night or a small crew. On a busy holiday night, a reserved spot means you're not standing around trying to find somewhere to sit in a costume that wasn't built for standing.
It's booked by request and quoted. Send the request through the services page or email management@starletsnyc.com, and mention it's a Halloween date night.
For Brides of Chucky, the club's listing for October 31 currently shows one free drink and free entry until 12 AM, plus buy one bottle, get the second 50% off. For The Gothic Purge on Friday, the October 30 listing currently shows free entry until 12 AM. The Halloween Week flyer doesn't mention offers, and they change from week to week, so check the listing for your date.
First time at Starlets together?
The club lists its VIP Reservation as a date-night option, so coming as a couple is part of the plan, not an exception. If it's the first visit for either of you, our post on your first ten minutes inside takes the guesswork out of the start of the night. And if you're still deciding whether to reserve a table at all, is a VIP table worth it on a first visit gives you the honest split.

Getting home
Starlets is at 49-09 25th Ave, Woodside, NY 11377. The buses near the club finish by about 1:40 AM, so book a car home before you need one. Halloween night is the worst night of the year to be refreshing a ride app on the sidewalk in a costume.
