Planning a First Visit to Starlets: Three Decisions, and Nothing Else

Underneath "how do I plan a first visit" is a smaller and more honest question. How much of this do you actually have to have figured out before you walk in?

Three things. Everything else can wait until you are standing in the room.

Starlets is a gentlemen's club in Woodside, Queens, open daily 11 PM to 4 AM. Those hours quietly settle a lot of the planning for you, because they rule out arriving at nine and wondering why the block is quiet.

Decision one: which night you go

The club runs every night, so "when am I free" is a perfectly good way to choose. Most nights here carry their own name and their own sound, and a quiet midweek visit is a different evening from a full weekend one.

Fix the date first. Every other decision gets easier once there is a day attached to it.

Decision two: a table, or the bar

This is a yes-or-no question rather than a research project. A reservation gets you reserved seating and table service, arranged before you arrive. The bar gets you a seat you find yourself and a shorter list of things to organize beforehand.

Say yes to the table if you are bringing people, if the night has an occasion attached to it, or if you would rather not think about seating once you are inside. Say no if it is you and one other person and you want the evening loose.

The service list shows what can be arranged in advance, the VIP booking page is where you start one, and whether a VIP table is worth it on a first visit is the question to settle before you do.

Decision three: how the night ends

The club closes at 4 AM. That is later than most first-timers plan for, and the people who have a rough night are usually the ones who never decided when they were leaving or how.

Pick a rough end time before you go out. Not a rule. A default you are allowed to override. Then work out how you are getting home from Woodside and set it up while you still have signal and patience.

Check what is on before you lock the date

Specifics for a given night move around, so they live in one place and not in a page written weeks ago. Look at the events page before you commit to a day, because that is where the current details live. It is a thirty-second check.

If it is a date

A reservation suits a date night, and that is the case where booking ahead does the most work for the least effort. Seating is settled and there is service at the table, so you spend the evening talking to the person you came with instead of scanning the room for two free seats.

What you can leave undecided

Almost everything else:

None of that gets better by being decided at your kitchen table three days early. A room reads differently once you are inside it, and your plan will bend to what you find anyway.

Say the plan out loud to whoever is coming

Three decisions, put in the group chat the day before. The night, the table or the bar, and roughly when you expect to be heading home. Then the handoff is done.

Do it early. Plans made in a moving car at midnight are not plans, they are hopes with an address attached to them.

The one thing you have to bring

A valid government-issued photo ID. Everyone shows one, every time, and this is a 21+ venue. A booking does not change that part, which a reservation and the ID check spells out in full.

Check your wallet before the car comes. Not in the car.

The first ten minutes, in one line

Walk in, go somewhere specific, order something, and do your looking around from there. It works every time, and the longer version is your first ten minutes inside.

Give it longer than one drink

A first visit judged in the opening fifteen minutes is really a judgment about the entrance. Stay long enough to have a drink, settle, and see the room with your shoulders down.

If it turns out not to be your kind of night, you have lost an hour and learned something. If it is, you now have a place in Queens you know how to walk into, which is worth more than any amount of reading about it in advance.

Before you go

Starlets is at 49-09 25th Ave, Woodside, NY 11377, open daily 11 PM to 4 AM. Anything you want confirmed before you commit to a date, call (646) 301-6606 and ask. The venue is the authority on its own room, and one call settles what an hour of searching will not.
