The birthday table comes with a shout-out from the booth and the Startenders carrying the cake out onto the floor. The bachelor and bachelorette version comes with a dedicated host looking after the group.

Both start the same way, with you telling them what the night is. Neither carries a published figure, so the enquiry is the first real step rather than a formality.

Sort out the arrival time in advance

Somebody in your group will want to leave at half past ten and somebody will want to leave at half past midnight. Settle that before the car is ordered. A group that arrives in two waves spends its first hour reassembling instead of sitting down.
